Redirection plugins help you track and automatically update any and all of the 301 redirects your site contains. Furthermore the plugin will track and keep a list of all 404 errors so that during the ongoing website maintenance Bolt Goodly can set up the necessary redirects.

Redirects can be complicated and coding using Apache and Nginx, which the average business owner is probably not well versed in. Thankfully, modern WordPress redirection plugins can help you manage these processes without any coding knowledge!

WordPress Redirection

To set this mechanism up properly, log into WordPress using your admin username and password from 1Password. Then, go to Plugins > Add New and search for “Redirection”. You should find the following plugin:

Once you see this, click “Install Now”. You will then be redirected to the Installed Plugins Page. Click on Settings underneath Redirection and you will be defaulted to the Options section. Select the “URL Monitor: Select all options” button. This will enable all of the toolsuite to be activated and easily monitored.

With this plugin installed, you can now easily manage your redirects and get updates when there may be 404 errors present on your site (something you never want!) Finally, click update to get the most recent functional version and you are all set!
