What was your first job?
Other than babysitting in high school, I worked for the Best Western call center in college. “What city and state please!”
How did you get involved in marketing?
I went back to school for my MBA in 2012 and was fascinated by demographics, psychographics, and other areas of study in my marketing classes. I accidentally landed at Bolt Goodly when helping out my then boyfriend, Kirk with his work. I thought – I remember this stuff from school! And I’ve been here ever since.
What do you do at Bolt Goodly?
I head the Operations of the whole organization and the Fulfillment team, which takes care of client accounts.
What’s your favorite part of working for Bolt Goodly?
I love that we’ve engineered the American dream by building something 100% from scratch. We wrote all of our own operation manuals, created processes, procedures, all of it. All based on experience and a lot of trial and error.
What’s your biggest business lesson learned?
Loyalty and trust are key when going into business with partners. Skillset, drive, work ethic are all things that can shift, evolve, and develop over time, but trust needs to be firmly planted and solid from the start.
Where do see the digital marketing world in 5 years? 10 years?
I remember some of the first E-commerce websites coming to fruition in the late 00s, and now look where we are – Amazon, Alibaba, Google…I can only imagine where we’ll be in another 10 years! All I know is that the internet is a tool – a very valuable one when used properly – so I hope that humanity can continue to see it as a tool, and not something to take over our lives. While I do work behind a computer, I go outside every day, I try to pick up the phone and call people, and let this be a tool but not run my life =)
If you could give one piece of advice to potential clients, what would it be?
Lay your foundation slowly and with intention. More businesses die of overindulgence than starvation. If you take the time for strategy, long-term growth planning, and have some patience – you will see long-term success, not overnight successes that are gone in two years.
Proudest business achievement? Personal achievement?
Being a co-owner and creator of Bolt Goodly is my proudest business achievement. My proudest personal achievement is graduating with honors from grad school and also going on a solo-hiking trip across Utah!
What do you do in your free time?
Well, there’s not much of that when you’re an entrepreneur! But I practice yoga and try to go enjoy hiking and camping with my friends and hang out with my hubby.
What’s your favorite band?
I have one for each decade…Fleetwood Mac, Queen, Maroon 5…so many!
What’s your favorite movie?
ALL Star Wars movies – even the bad ones. That’s loyalty!
What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?
I was in a Hooked on Phonics commercial when I was in elementary school.
