Creating a Google Analytics Account
Creating a Google Analytics account is a must for businesses who want to be smarter about their marketing and SEO. It is one of the easiest and most effective tools available to help your business target weaknesses and make smarter decisions about your presence on the web.
Once you have downloaded Google Analytics from your Google Tag Manager(link to article), follow these steps in order to set up your Google Analytics account.
Step 1: Sign in to Google Analytics(GA): https://analytics.google.com/analytics/web/ using the client’s Google username and password in an incognito window if using Chrome, or the private browsing mode for Safari.
Step 2: Click on the Sign-Up button if it is present.
Note: You can create/add multiple accounts from a single Google account.
Step 3: Name your new GA account, making sure it matches your company name. Also, make sure you are using an appropriate and relevant website name. For example, if multiple websites are owned by the company (i.e. subdomains), you may name one of them store and the other CRM. Add the website’s URL and select the appropriate industry category, reporting time zone, and select all options under data sharing settings. Then click the “Get Tracking ID” button.
Step 4: Agree to all Terms of Service agreements.
Step 5: Copy the Tracking ID.
Step 6: Deploy GA via Google Tag Manager if available.
And you’re done! You now have access to a rich pool of data relating to your website’s performance and traffic. Now it is up to you to put this data into action and get your business growing!
